Me, unfiltered

Tony Overstar was born during one of those moments when you stare at the sky to silence the noise inside you. Overstar is a calling to what lies above us, to the infinite; Tony is simply the part of me walking on the ground. Those who know me know that I search for the sky every chance I get: it is the only mirror that reminds you how small we are, yet how incredibly lucky we are to witness all of this.

Through an introspective journey, I discovered a spirituality tied to the cosmos. I realized that we are reflections, made of energy, inextricably connected to the vastness that surrounds us. My music is the literal interpretation of this connection. I try to make my emotion vibrate by harmonizing it with the “all,” transforming it into a frequency that portrays the exact state of mind of that instant. It is my way of bringing that vastness inside me, and therefore inside whoever listens.

I stopped playing by the rules and decided to do only what I feel, without compromise. I have no interest in being defined as a musician or a producer. Those are labels used to sell a product, and I stopped being a product a long time ago. I only call myself an artist because I can find no other way to describe the need to throw out what is inside me. For years, I followed the rules of those who chew on music only to turn a profit, ending up hollowity testing the meaning of my every note. It was a mistake I do not intend to repeat.

Today, I only do what serves me. Everything you read or hear here is born from an immediate need: a thought that crosses my mind and that I must capture wherever I am, immediately, before logic pollutes it. It is a brutal process, often uncomfortable. Once written, for me, the thought is already the artwork; the music I add later is only an attempt to give a frequency to that instant, to make an idea audible that would otherwise remain locked in a phone note.

I decided to publish my notes online, mainly, for a selfish reason: to free my thoughts. If someone else, while reading or listening, finds a piece of their own life or a specific moment’s emotion in them, the connection happens on its own, without me having to force or explain it. I don’t care about charts, numbers, or approval. I care about staying true to what I feel and letting it go. This site exists because it must exist for me. I don’t need to please anyone else; I only need to be myself.
